Abstract Pigmentary mosaicism of the (hypomelanosis of) Ito type is an umbrella term, which includes phenotypes characterized by mosaic hypopigmentation in the form of streaks, whorls, patchy, or more bizarre skin configurations (running along the lines of Blaschko): these cutaneous patterns can manifest as an isolated skin disorder (pigmentary mosaicism of the Ito type) or as a complex malformation syndrome in association with extracutaneous anomalies (most often of the musculoskeletal and/or nervous systems) (hypomelanosis of Ito). Bone marrow after autologous blood stem cell transplantation and total body irradiation: magnetic resonance and chemical shift imaging.

Magnetic resonance studies of the lumbar, pelvic, and femoral bone marrow were performed in 10 patients after autologous blood stem cell transplantation, including total body irradiation and myeloablative chemotherapy. The posttreatment interval varied between 2 and 6 yr. The appearance on T1-weighted images and the quantitative data obtained from chemical shift imaging (relative fat signal) were compared to 10 age-matched healthy volunteers. The aim of this current study was to quantitatively describe radiation-induced DNA damage and its distribution in leukocytes of cancer patients after fractionated partial- or total-body radiotherapy. Specifically, the impact of exposed anatomic region and administered dose was investigated in breast and prostate cancer patients receiving partial-body radiotherapy. DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) were quantified by γ-H2AX immunostaining. Determining the location of the body׳s center of mass for different groups of physically active people

The purpose of the present study was to compare the location of the body center of mass (CoM) determined by using a high accuracy reaction board (RB) and two different segment parameter models for motion analysis (Dempster, 1955, DEM and de Leva, 1996 adjusted from Zatsiorsky and Seluyanov, ZAT). The body CoM (expressed as percentage of the total body height) was determined from several subjects including athletes as well as physically active students and sedentary people. Five years after the diagnosis of Ph chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) a 31-year-old patient developed malignant nephrosclerosis with renal failure. He then underwent an allogeneic unrelated BMT in first chronic phase CML. The preparative regimen consisted of fractionated total body irradiation (TBI) and cyclophosphamide (CY). Lipid peroxidation products, lipid antioxidants, and hematologic and blood chemistry changes were evaluated in plasma of patients after acute burning injury involving 10% (n=8), 20% (n=8), and 40% (n=5) of total body surface area (TBSA), 24 h after burning (baseline) up to 30 days after. Markedly increased plasma levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) were observed at baseline in all patients, according to the extent of the injury, then the values declined progressively.
